Welcome to 1st-Date ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services.
By using 1st-Date, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies, please do not use our services.
Account Information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (or a private relay email in the case of Apple). We do not receive or store your Apple or Google password.
Profile Information: When you create a profile, we collect your display name, date of birth, gender, photos, bio, and dating preferences you provide.
Location Data: 1st-Date requires location permission to function. We collect your device's GPS coordinates to show you nearby users and calculate approximate distances. Your location is updated each time you open the app. To protect your privacy, your exact coordinates are never shared with other users. Instead, we assign your location to a general neighborhood area and calculate distances server-side. Other users will only see an approximate distance and your neighborhood name, never your precise location.
Communication Data: We store messages you send through the app. Video calls are processed through our third-party video provider (LiveKit) and are not recorded or stored by us.
Compatibility and Vision Board Data: When you use the Compatibility Lab, your answers to personality and preference questions are stored to calculate compatibility scores with other users. When you use the Vision Board feature, the content you create and curate is stored to personalize your experience.
Subscription and Payment Data: If you subscribe to a premium plan, payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not have access to your payment card details or billing information. Apple's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data.
Device Information: We collect device identifiers, operating system, and app usage data to improve our services and provide technical support.
Analytics Data: We collect anonymized usage analytics to improve the app experience. User identifiers are cryptographically hashed (SHA-256) before being stored in analytics records so that event data cannot be linked back to your personal identity.
1st-Date uses artificial intelligence (powered by OpenAI) to enhance certain features, including generating compatibility questions and curating Vision Board content. When you interact with these features, your responses and preferences may be processed by OpenAI's API. We do not send your name, photos, or contact information to OpenAI. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to the processing of this data.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where required by law to retain certain information.

1st-Date is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
